About the TNVR Process
What is the TNVR Process?
Barn Cat Outreach clinics are set up as a Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate & Release process.
The process works like this:
- Humane traps are set the night before our clinic with fishy smelling canned cat food in them. Normally the cats have been fed in/near the traps for the previous week to get them used to the cages. As cats are trapped, they are covered with a sheet and placed in a quiet location away from the trapping area.
- The next morning, the cats are brought to our clinic
- In our mobile clinic, the cats are
- anesthetized
- spayed/neutered
- vaccinated for rabies & feline distemper
- treated for fleas, ear mites, wounds, parasites, etc.
- have their left ear tipped for identification
- recovered and released in their original environment within 24-48 hours
